Kingston's city hall. The city of Kingston is located halfway between Montreal and Toronto, Canada's two largest cities. It was the old capital of Canada before Ottawa. |

Bellevue House was once the home of Sir John A. Macdonald, Canada's first prime minister. Restored to the 1840s period, and staffed by costumed interpreters, the house and gardens are kept much as they would have been during the time that Macdonald lived here with his wife and infant son. |

Me at Fort Henry, a 19th century British Military Fortress in Kingston. The original Fort Henry was built during the War of 1812 (1812-1814) between Great Britain (Canada being at that time a British colony) and the United States of America, and bears no resemblance to the existing fort. |

The city of Kingston as seen from Fort Henry. I enjoyed my short stay with Wayne at Kingston and really liked the feel of the town. I enjoyed having breakfast at a local old-fashioned diner and the meals at one of Wayne's favorite restaurants - a small but busy Cambodian restaurant . |

Kingston is also known in entire Canada as the place where the country's maximum security prison is located. From a distance, this penitentiary looks imposing, even menacing. |

Renowned as the fresh-water capital of North America, Kingston is a major port to cruise the famous Thousand Islands. The tour boats in this picture, however, were in neighboring town Gananoque. |
